Capital Health System in Hamilton

Capital Health System in Hamilton, New Jersey, a suburb of Trenton, is a 72,000 SF outpatient campus developed by Anchor to expand Capital Health’s market presence and provide a basis for Capital to compete directly with suburban hospitals in the area. Prior to this new location, both of CHS’s main healthcare campuses were located in downtown Trenton. This new project has not only allowed CHS to increase its outpatient revenues by offering a variety of diagnostic services in an integrated suburban setting, but it has also given CHS an opportunity to rebrand its image in the marketplace.

The goal of the overall design was to create a comfortable environment that promotes healing through close associations with the natural world. In the one building, a concierge greets visitors on their arrival and an open floor plan leads patients past water features to a café and outdoor terrace overlooking unspoiled wetlands. In the other building, patients can select from a variety of waiting areas taking advantage of a cozy fireplace or a sunlit, vaulted atrium all surrounded by an extensive art collection.
